Tornados News

4th December 2000
Well guys it's getting towards Christmas again and we are having a club night out for all who are interested at the Maple Leaf pub in Covent Garden on Saturday the 16th December followed by an internal game for all registered team members on Sunday the 17th December at 11pm. Hope to see everyone there.

Thanks to Swindon for travelling to Slough for a brilliant game on Saturday night. Cheers, lads.

20th November 2000
Well the AGM happened as planned yesterday and the current commitee were voted back in. Lydia Westcombe will now also be helping Mike with the secretary's job with a view to taking over in the future. Many thanks Lydia.

Congratulations to Stefan Ligas was voted Captain, and to Dwayne Pascal, Dom Galea and Kevin Barsby who were voted Assistant Captains.

The awards were as follows:

Arse of the Year - Dave Woodey
Players' Player - Dave Hurst
Coach's Player - Alan Gray

In addition it was voted that Tinkerbell (the minibus) should be sold since she is costing us too much to maintain.

It was also stated that we will be traveling to Valkenburg again this season and taking 2 teams. We will also be going back to the Glenrothes tournament in 2001.

22nd August 2000
The results of the Southern Cup are:

1st - Slough Tornados
2nd - Solihull Vikings
3rd - Chelmsford Nighthawks

Also, this Thursday night (24/08/2000) will be the last Thursday training session until next summer. Training moves to Sunday night with the first Sunday session on (03/09/2000). The time remains the same.

It's that time of year again when the AGM draws near and awards are again presented. All registered members should e-mail Simon with their vote for the Players' Player award and for the Ass of the Year award (Mike Fay again maybe!!). Also you should have a think about who you would like as Captain and Assistant Captains next season. If you feel you would like to contribute more to the team than you do already you should be prepared to offer your services at the AGM.

Finally:

Huge congratulations to Dave Hurst who has been offered a contract with the Slough Jets. He has played his last game with the Tornados as he will now be the Jets' back-up goalie. His first game with the Jets is this Saturday (26/08/2000) at Slough. Lets all go and make some noise for him!and a fond farewell to Todd Carlson who has also played his last game for the Tornados as he is leaving to work in Dubai.

All the best, guys.
